summer arts & crafts inspo

Jul. 16, 2025

Hey, friends!

Recently, I’ve been feeling so inspired to be creative & make fun craft projects so I wanted to do a post with all of the ideas I’ve been saving and wanting to try. A lot of these would be great to do at a party or with friends, but you could also do them by yourself. ☺️

paint or draw on tote bags

We made these for my birthday party a few years ago, and they were so cute! You could also use fabric markers if you didn’t want to paint. I’m always throwing things into a tote bag, and having one that you made yourself is fun.

watercolor

I loveee watching Miss Katie’s vlogs, and she started watercoloring this summer and it’s made me want to try it, too. It seems so summery & peaceful to go sit at the beach or lake and watercolor! 🀭

doodle

I randomly started doodling again a few months ago, and it’s been so much fun. (Doodling while listening to an audiobook is my favorite thing right now haha) I’ve never been great at drawing, but it’s nice to get better at it. So if you’re like me and aren’t great at it, or you already love it, this summer is a great time to do it more!

bookmark charms

These have been all over my Pinterest lately, and I don’t know how I didn’t see them before?! They’re so cute, and I love that you can make themed ones to match whatever book/series you’re reading. Here’s the video I used to make them!

felt pennants

I saw these on Pinterest when I was looking for room decor inspo (hopefully I’ll post about what I’ve been working on next week!!), and now I want to try and make one for my room! They’re fun to make, but they’re also cute if you have a space that needs decorating!

bracelets

This one is kinda basic in the summer, but still worth putting on the list. There are so many different bracelets you can make, whether you want to make friendship bracelets with thread/yarn or beaded ones!

paint a flower pot & plant flowers

I wanted to do this in the spring, but I never ended up doing it – it’d still be a great summer project though! Once you paint the pot all cute, you then get to have flowers for the rest of the summer, which is fun.

other ideas

  • shell art
  • bucket list jar
  • key chains
  • scrapbook !!
  • paint mugs/plates/dishes
  • decorate candles

now, it’s your turn!

Favorite idea from this post? Anything you think I should add to it or try this summer? Comment below!!

Thanks so much for reading!

These are such cute ideas! I actually might have to keep some of them in mind for my birthday party (which is still like four months away πŸ˜‚)

I love these ideas, especially the bookmarks! (Although I’m also drawn to the seashell art lol; it’s beautiful! My sister and I still have some from a beach trip one year. I’ll have to see if I can find them to decorate.)

Also, the doodles you did are adorable! Have you ever thought of creating a little coloring book with them?

Some other ideas I can think of:
~paper crafts!! I LOVE working with paper… and whether it’s origami, paper chain decoration for your room, paper flowers (put them all over my walls!!), or paper snowflakes/butterfly hangings; paper crafts are so fun! they usually take a lot of patience, and, yes, a lot of time, but soooo worth it when you finish and they’re so bright and beautiful!!
~beaded animals!! SO CUTE. i’ve made a lizard, turtle, and bee recently. i wanted to make a huge jellyfish one, but i haven’t gotten to it yet.
~legos. legos are so fun to mess around with, and you can build literally anything with them. sets are super neat too, if you don’t wanna freestyle.
~puzzles! basic, but it’s so satisfying to finish a huge puzzle that you’ve been working on for a looooong time.
~diamond dots. takes a LOT of my patience. a LOT. but so pretty, and when you’re super bored, why not give it a try?
~tie dye! another classic. but you really can’t mess up tie dying.
~photography!! not a craft. now that i think of it, none of these are really crafts. but they’re fun, creative activities that deserve to be mentioned as well <3
~sewingggggg!! i've sewn so many things. real diapers for my sister's american girl dolls, headbands, ADORABLE fat cats, drawstring bags, plushies, etc. etc. ofc, it's a lot easier if you have a sewing machine, but even if you don't, hand stitching is kinda tricky but still super fun imo. with that, you could always try embroidery as well (because, HELLO, embroidered sweatshirts?!?!? so cute). i've personally never gotten into embroidery, but who knows, maybe you'd enjoy it.

wow, that was a lot, haha! just some other ideas tho. i love crafting sm, and this was a great post, Pearl!! tyyyyyy <3
