Hey, friends!
Over the past couple weeks, I’ve definitely been on a health kick of trying to eat healthier, drink enough water, and just work on creating healthier habits before getting into summer training for cross country. I’ve been really into making (& eating ) healthy foods and finding healthier substitutes for popular foods. I know snacking can sometimes be looked down on in healthy eating communities, but if I’m hungry I’d definitely prefer to eat a healthy snack than cave and eat a bunch of junk food. Anyways, I’ve been experimenting a lot with healthy snacks recently and so I thought I’d share a couple of my favorites here with you guys!
Also, I know everyone has a different idea of what healthy is and isn’t, for me I like to eat whole foods as much as possible. All of these snacks pretty much fit into the category of healthy, but most of them would work with a lot of different diets and healthy eating plans.
greek yogurt & fruit w/ peanut butter and granola
This is one of my favorite breakfasts, snacks, or to eat before/after a workout. Chobani is my favorite yogurt, and then adding some berries, granola, and a spoonful of peanut butter is amazing!
rice cakes toast with peanut butter, banana, honey, & cinnamon
I haven’t had this recently but a couple of months ago, I would eat this every day for probably two months before I ran which made me kinda sick of it but I’m sure I’ll like it again at some point. 😂 It’s light enough that it doesn’t make me feel sick while I run but also gives me fuel.
apples & peanut butter
This is kind of a classic “health food” snack, but it is nonetheless delicious and healthy! Make sure to get an all natural peanut butter (literally the only ingredient should be peanuts) or make your own. You could also try using almond butter, just again make sure it’s the natural kind.
peanut butter chocolate oat cups
These are a little bit more like dessert but still so good! I’ll eat these for breakfast with a smoothie or just snack on them throughout the day. They’re super easy to make and definitely taste a little like Reece’s Cups. Here’s the recipe!
smoothies
Smoothies are my go-to when I really don’t feel hungry or want to eat but still need to because they’re a great way to get in protein and fruit without having to put too much effort in. Here’s my favorite simple smoothie recipe! (It has around 20g protein without having to add protein powder bc I don’t like how gritty it makes it.)
- 2/3 cup yogurt
- handful of frozen strawberries, pineapple, mango, or whatever frozen fruit we have (my mom likes to put berries & spinach in hers but it annoys me when the color is weird or there are seeds 😂)
- splash of milk
snack plates
This is more of a lunch/dinner thing or a bigger snack but it’s so goodI love putting, ham/turkey, fruit, veggies, cheese, pretzels/these rice crisps, and some kind of dip all onto a plate and snacking on it in while I do school, work on designs, or write.
r.x bars or larabars
R.X. Bars have been one of my favorite snacks for the longest time but I know a lot of people don’t like them. The Chocolate Sea Salt flavor is my favorite, but the Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate bars are also really good. Larabars are super similar to R.X. bars and I love the Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter, and Apple Pie flavors.
energy balls
There are so many kinds of energy balls that I love to eat as snacks or before/after workouts, so I’m just going to link a few of my favorite recipes!
homemade or sugar-free popsicles
Popsicles are one of my favorite things to eat after a hot run/workout to cool down or when I want a treat without all the sugar. You can definitely make your own and have fun with it, or find ones that are sugar free from the store.
banana or pumpkin muffins
Muffins are such an underrated snack/breakfast in my opinion because they are so easy to make but also delicious and quick to eat. This is the banana muffin recipe I use all the time sweetened with maple syrup and this is the pumpkin one.
now, it’s your turn!

Oh my goodness, all of this looks SO delicious!!! I’m always looking for healthy snacks to eat, so I can’t wait to try these out! Normally when I want a healthy snack, I get fruit, veggies, or peanuts (yogurt and cottage cheese tend to be my breakfast choices), but I love the unique options for eating fruit and other healthy foods that you listed in your post! Thanks so much for this!

Mmmm, delish! Sometimes I have wheat thins and berries for snack. Most of the time I’ll just grab some fruit though, since pb & other snacks have more calories. I also LOVE dates, which we have all the time!
