Hey, friends!
For today’s post, Mayim @ The Braided Vine and I are doing a collab! We did one collab before in September, and we had so much fun that we wanted to do another one. We’re sharing our vision boards and our tips for making and achieving goals this year, so let’s dive in.
what is a vision board?
For those of you who don’t know, a vision board is a collage of photos and words to inspire you. They are great for helping you stay focused on your goals but also fun to make and have!
Quick note: I’m only making a vision board for my laptop/Notion because I’m switching bedrooms right now and I don’t have a good place for it right now, so if you want to just do that, this post is for you!
how to make a vision board
write down your goals
This will help when you’re looking for photos to use for your board. Write down anything you want to accomplish or do this year. It doesn’t matter if you do it on your phone, laptop, or a good ‘ole notebook.
find photos for your board
Pinterest is going to be your best friend for this. I went and searched for anything that related to my goals, and I was able to find so many photos to choose from. For example, one of my goals was to read 100 books so I went to Pinterest and found some cute book pics.
Tip: If you want your board to be aesthetic and cohesive, try to find photos with a similar feel and style. I ended up making mine all B&W because I was in a B&W sorta mood, so you can really do whatever you want!
pin your photos on pinterest
I created a Pinterest board specifically for my 2024 goals and for the last month or so, I’ve been finding and saving photos to the board so I have options. I also saved quotes & Bible verses that I want to focus on this year to this board.
Tip: Keep it realistic. Even though traveling the world and taking photos would be so fun, you might not be able to do that this year, so find photos of things that you could see yourself doing. But don’t be afraid to dream!
open canva & choose ‘desktop wallpaper’
If you don’t like Canva, you could do this in Google Docs, ProCreate, PicMonkey, or any app that works for making a collage! I love Canva though, so that’s what I am going to do it in. Once you open Canva, choose the template ‘desktop wallpaper.’ If you aren’t using Canva, the dimensions are 1920 x 1080 px.
move photos from your pinterest board to canva
The next step is to upload your photos from Pinterest to Canva. If there are any photos that you especially liked, bring those over first and then you can use smaller photos that you don’t like as much to fill in.
arrange your photos
Finally onto the actual making of the vision board! Once you have your photos in Canva, start arranging them onto the design. You can use a template or just do it yourself. There’s no wrong way to do this!
add your goals
Pick a cute font and write whatever you want to work on or do in 2024 to your vision board! You can be as specific or as broad as you want.
use your vision board
Last step! You can set it up as your wallpaper (you could also make a phone version!), print it and put it up, or add it to your online planner (I put mine in my Notion!). Use it to inspire you and keep you focused on your goals throughout the year
tips for achieving goals
Before we go, I wanted to share some tips for achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself this year!
- Make your goals clear. It might seem easier to make a general goal, but in the long run, it works so much better to be specific. For example, if you want to read a lot of books, make a list of the books you’re going to read so you have something to work off of!
- Divide your goals into categories. This year, I split up my goals into categories for faith, writing, running, business, and life. It’s helped me stay way more organized and then when I make my quarterly goals, I already have my goals divided.
- Be flexible. My dad’s always saying ‘Be flexible so you don’t get bent out of shape.’ And that’s so true because if 2023 taught me one thing, it would be ‘don’t hold your goals too closely’ Things aren’t going to go as you want, and that’s part of life. So if your goals don’t go as planned this year, embrace the season that God is putting you in and go with the flow. It makes it so much easier, even if it seems hard in the moment.
now, it’s your turn!
AcAlso, make sure to check out Mayim’s post which she’ll be posting tomorrow!

your “great things never came from comfort zones” reminds me of one of my favorite running mottos, “embrace the discomfort”. Embracing stepping out of my comfort zone is definitely a goal of mine for this year.
I love your vision board…super aesthetic!
(by the way, this is also RJ who has commented before. I’ve just decided to go by something new now :))
Pearl says
ack yesss, that is so true in running and life! my coach is always saying ‘learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable’ and it’s so important.
(oh, good to know! thanks for commenting! 🫶🏻)

Loved this post! I can’t wait to sit down later and work on my vision board. A tip that I found helpful when working on my goals is to keep it measurable, I struggle with this a lot.
